Markham House :-
Introduction : Markham House Bed and Breakfast is known as one of the best places to stay in the Sooke area. It is a tranquil oasis on a 10 acre country estate. Markham House has many of the attributes of a small resort, yet the romance of an intimate B&B. Only a pleasant 1/2 hour drive from Victoria, this charming guest house and secluded cottage is very close to hiking and cycling trails including the "Galloping Goose Trail". Be sure to visit nearby spectacular West Coast beaches and marine parks. Enjoy afternoon tea on our patio by the trout pond, or experience one of the fine restaurants in the area which include the famous Sooke Harbour House.

Rooms and Rates English Country Room : This large bedroom overlooking the front gardens is decorated with luxurious fabrics and 20th century antiques. It features either king or 2-twin beds. There is a small reading area in front of the fire and a pretty ensuite bathroom with shower.

Our garden is now twenty five years old and has a lovely variety of flora with a focus on native planting - the landscaping is particularly beautiful and with the new addition of a large green house the future looks even more interesting! |
You won't want to miss a leisurely walk or cycle on the Galloping Goose Trail which extends from the B.C. Ferry Terminal in Swartz Bay over 60 Kilometres to the now demised gold rush town of Leechtown in the Sooke Hills. The Sooke section of the trail is the most beautiful as it wends it's way around Sooke Harbour. While in Sooke, take the time to explore the natural wonders of the area. Visit, East Sooke Regional Park, one of the finest marine parks overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Take the day trip to Botanical Beach and its crashing "stormwatching" waves and at low tide the fascinating tidal pools. On your way, to or from make a stop at Point no Point restaurant for a delightful tea overlooking the Olympic Mountains in Washington State. Relax in secluded Honeysuckle Cottage, tucked away at the edge of our woods. On the large deck there is a private hot tub and BBQ. Inside warm yourself by the wood fire, curl up with a good book or watch your favorite movie. There is a small kitchenette and a separate queen size bedroom. If you are travelling with your pet dog, you are welcome. At your leisure, venture out to try one of our fine restaurants such as Markus' Wharfside or Sooke Harbour House. |
