The Garden Cottage

Cedar walls with a Pre-Raphaelite mural, beech floor and a vaulted ceiling with skylights set the scene. Black, gold and green highlight the decor. The cottage has a king sized canopy bed with pillow-top mattress, fireplace and two-person jacuzzi whirlpool bathtub with marble surround.
We designed its interior with the secluded garden setting in mind yet containing elements of the elegance of the manor house. This is typified by the large Pre-Raphaelite wallhanging by John Melhuish Strudwick, "When Apples were Golden" (1906) is perfect in a cottage amongst apple, cherry and plum trees.

Camelot Room
A Victoria bed and breakfast room that oozes with character. This photos gallery shows features of this BC B&B retreat's guest room. The rich colours are reminiscent of Arts and Crafts homes which in turn were influenced by the medieval period. Entered through a private entrance off its own deck garden, Camelot has a king-sized bed with a featherbed (or two single twin beds) within a rich, romantic decor. The private ensuite bathroom has a two-person jacuzzi whirlpool bathtub and separate double shower unit with seat. The wonderful tapestries provided the inspiration for the character and deep colours of the room. Above the fireplace is a famous 1895 tapestry by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, "The Arming and Departure of the Knights", now in the collection of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. "The Lady" near the window features Guinevere, before she was queen, being courted by King Arthur entering in the background accompanied by her maid Luned. Lastly, another Burne-Jones wallhanging "Laus Veneris" (1869) enriches the stunning bathroom.

The Regency Room

This photos gallery illustrates the Regency Room which overlooks the terrace and gardens with its own private entrance from a deck garden. Slumber in a queen bed with pillow-top mattress. The private ensuite bathroom has a two-person whirlpool jacuzzi bathtub and shower. Diamond leaded windows, hardwood floor, armchairs, fireplace add to the character. Inspired by the Regency period of early 19th century England with its rich elegant textures. This includes two French tapestries; one a silk-screened portrait of Marie-Antoinette, who epitomised elegance, and "The Swing" (1780) by Jean Baptiste Huet, now in The Louvre. The theme is completed by Regency striped curtains, French toile upholstery and a classical crystal chandelier.

Enjoy free use of the Spa Cottage with its infrared sauna; massage treatments are available. Off-street parking, movies, local calls are also free. As well as wireless internet throughout there is a guest computer station (high speed). We offer a variety of packages too.

We encourage guests to relax in our acre of lovely peaceful mature gardens (see pages of photos on our website) – enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace, dozing by a waterfall, reading in the gazebo or in the oriental garden, or wandering amongst the flowers.

Breakfasts
Breakfast is taken seriously at our Victoria BC bed and breakfast to 'set you up' for your day - you may not need to buy any lunch!

These memorable B&B breakfasts are candlelit multi-course meals served in the lovely surroundings of the dining room, served elegantly on fine china with linen napkins, silver place settings and silver service.

As you arise from slumber in a comfortable bed, tempting aromas are indicative of the superb breakfast to come. Varying each day, this is scrumptiously tasty, nutritious and attractively presented. For example, on the morning this was written, our four guests from Hawaii enjoyed:

* freshly squeezed orange juice.
* freshly ground coffee and a selection of fine black, green and herbal teas. Our coffee is freshly roasted Columbian organic coffee from Level Ground, a Fair Trade company.
* a fruit plate with seasonal soft fruits and berries; today including local raspberries, melons, kiwi and also bananas.
* cereals from a side table.
* strawberry fool ( a tangy yet smooth English treat).
* baked eggs, one of Linda's specialities: freshly laid eggs (from a neighbour's hens) baked with a blend of Swiss cheeses, succulent Black Forest ham, fresh Roma tomatoes and locally grown asparagus ( or other seasonal vegetables)
* muffins straight from the oven, with local preserves.
* one of these guests had a special diet to which we catered accordingly.

Linda and Martin both have many years experience in hospitality. Linda's catering background results in memorable breakfasts which have caused more than one set of guests to change plans and stay a further night.
